60-YEAR REUNION AT PARKVIEW.
On Saturday, October 4, the Yorkville High School Class of '48 hosted their 60-year reunion! As our present Parkview Christian Academy was the former Yorkville elementary through high school, the group asked to tour the building again. It was our privilege to welcome them in and a joy to hear some of the stories that took place within the walls of this old building. While hosted by the Class of '48, there were those in attendance who graduated later than that and some who graduated earlier. One dear lady, Adele (Perkins) Reynolds, graduated in 1935. At 91 years of age, her memories of the school were still razor sharp and she did a commendable job getting around (including managing the stairs to the second floor). We also had a former teacher visit who used to teach music in a mobile unit next to the building. As the location of the school was still very rural at that time, she recounted memories of singing "...duets with the chickens." More than a couple of the men stopped outside the old principal's office to recall a few times they were called in for a visit. In all, there were about 35 people who returned for the walk-through.
Enjoy these pictures from their tour.
